Background:
Situated in the crofting township of Bettyhill on the 'rugged and remote' north coast of mainland Scotland, Farr High School serves the parishes of Farr and Tongue, an area of 531 square miles in one of the most sparsely populated parts of the UK. The school was built as a junior secondary in 1964 but has been progressively update colegios_colegios d since then and attained full High School status in 1997. It consists of a main permanent building supplemented by three temporary huts and is awaiting a 'significant' extension to its permanent accommodation. The school has a particular interest in outdoor education and runs an annual outdoor activities week and an annual ski week. It also operates a cultural awareness programmes and its technology department is 'another strength'. The school tries 'to cultivate a business-like attitude to work within a supportive, family-like atmosphere'.
